Smiles everyone!
Clean teeth, fresh breath, and a healthy smile!
As with humans, plaque and tartar buildup can lead to malodorous breath, gum disease, tooth decay, and potential internal medical issues. Consistent at-home dental care and routine professional cleanings are the winning combination for the prevention of gingivitis and periodontal disease.
At-Home Dental Care
We recommend routine at-home dental care for all of our patients. Regular brushing, dental chews, water additives, and dental diets are all great ways to control build-up of plaque and tartar on your pet's teeth. The dental products our doctors recommend can be purchased in our hospital or through our online pharmacy.
Professional Dental Prophylaxis
In addition to at-home dental care, routine dental cleanings are an important part of wellness care and good oral health. Although each pet’s individual needs will vary, we generally recommend annual professional cleanings starting at age 3.
Dentals are performed at our hospital daily as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia. With the supervision of a doctor, our licensed veterinary technicians radiograph, chart, scale, and polish each tooth. Suspicious teeth are reviewed by a veterinarian and extracted if necessary.
